Chiang Mai Dispensary Tour
This article is intended to record what I saw and heard during my trip. It does not advocate or recommend anyone to try any psychoactive drugs. At the time of writing, cannabis and its related compounds were still classified as Schedule II drugs in Taiwan.
I visited quite a few shops in Chiang Mai this time, and I'm documenting them while they're still fresh in my memory.
May 04 2025 Update: On a whim, I decided to check in to see how my old friends were doing, but I discovered that many of the shops I visited were closed. 🥲 It's best to check a map before going.
#1 Hannah Organic - Cannabis Wizard
This was the first hemp shop I visited in Chiang Mai. It was almost 10:00 PM when I got off the plane on the first day. After dropping off my luggage, I checked and saw that this was the only shop still open nearby, so I ran over.

At first, the shop was pitch black, and I thought it was closed. I looked around and saw the owner lying on a recliner inside. He had a long, white beard, and if there is a wizard of cannabis, he'd probably look like that. The shop wasn't very big, but the shelves were well stocked. There was also a clock on the wall with "Weed Time" written on it—quite cool. After looking around, I finally bought the Kush I'd been craving for a long time. The owner brought out a can of OG Kush (250 ฿/g). I also bought a gram of Indica-dominant hybrid and a lighter. He also gave me two rolls of tobacco paper. It was amazing.

Before we left, the owner took us to the adjacent shop, where he set up some tables and chairs. He said we could sit and smoke, and there was free water and coffee. He was so kind! He even said we could smoke there if we wanted. Since we were a little hungry after getting off the plane, we said goodbye to the owner and went looking for food.
Although the owner's weed was quite cheap, both of the two brands I smoked were incredibly dizzy. One was completely slow and groggy; the other, in addition to the dizziness, also had a persistent leftward tilt, as if my body had an internal gyroscope that had been rotated 30 degrees counterclockwise. Whether walking or lying down, I felt lopsided. Another friend who smoked with me also experienced the same feeling. It wasn't very exciting at the time, but looking back on it, it was still a pretty cool experience.

#2 Stoner Cnx - Cannabis Collector
Walking through the streets of Chiang Mai, you'll occasionally see yellow smiley face stickers on utility poles. Near shops, there are even more small signs reminding you that Stoner is nearby!

This shop is located inside the Old Town, roughly to the lower right of the center. It's hard not to spot the eye-catching yellow sign when walking around the Old Town. Upon entering the shop, to the right is a counter selling smoking equipment and other supplies. Clothing is available in front and to the left. Further left leads to another coffee shop.
After looking around the store and not seeing anything we were looking for, we told the staff we wanted to see what they had. She then led us to a small room outside. The person inside opened the door and welcomed us in. If I hadn't told you, I'd have thought they were doing a drug deal (and I guess they were?).

The space inside the store is quite small; only three or four people would fit in. The owner sat at a small table in the back, and the shelves to the side were filled with canned dry food.

The top row features grains from California, the next row from Mexico, and at the very bottom, a table displays local Thai goods.
The owner, sporting a clean-cut crew cut and fluent English, explained the differences between each variety and their user experiences. He explained that he smokes these varieties himself and shares them with customers. At the end, the owner added:
I'm more of a collector, not a seller.
So handsome and so envious, I couldn't help but imagine one day being able to legally smell the assortment of terpenes I've collected from all over the world.
While reason told me not to buy this imported product, it was just too fragrant 😫. In the end, I still bought a gram of Acapulco Gold for 850 ฿. It was truly fragrant and sticky. After checking out, the owner gave me a sticker, saying it would ship throughout Thailand. This sticker is like my passport for buying cannabis in Thailand.
I have to say, every can in the store smells incredibly delicious, and the owner is incredibly good at explaining them. The only downside is that the prices are generally a bit high, and the store sells a large portion of imported products.
This was the best one I smoked on the entire trip. I naturally danced and shook my head to the music, feeling happy but not crazy. It was 87% exactly like the owner's description. The most important thing is that the aroma is truly incomparable. Opening the small ziplock bag, you're greeted by a waft of candy-sweet aroma. Even after we'd smoked every last one, we still kept picking up the empty bag. It was truly memorable. That being said, next time I return to Thailand, I'll definitely support local produce 🫡.

#3 Amsterdam Cafe

Amsterdam Cafe is located in the Old City, about a three-minute walk from Stoner. They have a wide variety of produce, and long tables are filled with a variety of dry goods. A nearby cabinet houses smoking utensils, sundries, and books on health and wellness, some of which are in Chinese.

The prices range from 200 to 700 ฿/g[^1], and there are occasional discounts, such as 50% off a particular variety or a set price for a certain amount of grams. The owner and his wife are very nice. If you're looking for a scent you've never smelled before, this is the place to try.
Before checking out, I asked the owner why the shop was named Amsterdam Cafe. She explained that it's because all the cannabis shops in Amsterdam are called "OOXX Coffeeshops," hence the name. 🤔
If you're feeling hungry after shopping, you can head across the street to Coconut Shell Thai Food for a meal. It's affordable and delicious!

#4 Weed House CNX - A trendy, self-employed eatery
Wandering around the Three Kings Statue in the old city at night, the psychedelic sign for Weed House stood out in the pitch-black darkness, drawing me in like a radiant insect.

Upon entering the shop, the first thing that caught my attention wasn't the produce, but the owner standing behind the counter, wearing a white cooler-bag-style vest. Combined with the neon lights at the door and the jars of cannabis on the table, it felt strangely surreal.
I casually asked about the produce's origins, and the owner happily pulled out his phone. He explained that the cannabis was all grown in Chiang Mai, while scrolling through his photo album, showing us photos and videos. The most memorable video was of the owner and a group of friends happily watching a video beside a hemp field. It was absolutely amazing. The owner also said they had bong rolls available for immediate use, or they could roll them for us.
Because I bought so much the first few days, I didn't spend anything on my first visit. I returned after I'd digested a lot of the weed.

On my second visit, we were greeted by another employee. Then the owner emerged wearing a large bathrobe, adding to the lively atmosphere.
The store has a wide variety of items, both indoors and outdoors. After a long search, I finally bought the AK47 and Joker, both of which I'd heard a lot about. I don't know if it's because I've smoked too much or if it's the difference between indoor and outdoor use, but neither of them had a very strong aroma, but the grassy aroma was still nice.

#5 People Of The Sun

After exiting Tha Phae Gate, cross the main road and you'll see this place on your right. They sell some of their own clothes, small items, and coffee. It's kind of like a cannabis shop (?)
The store doesn't have a lot of produce. I was about to leave after looking around, feeling a bit uninterested, when the clerk pulled out a can of Lemon Orange, saying it had just arrived that day. It was fine without smelling it, but once I did, it was incredible. The overwhelming citrus aroma hit my nose, and before I knew it, I'd already checked out.

The only downside is that it doesn't smell as amazing when you smoke it 🤔

#6 Flying Tiger Cannabis Dispensary

This place is less than two minutes from People Of The Sun, so it's a breeze to walk over. Their logo looks more like a tiger infested with Leucochloridium paradoxum than a smoking lice (insect-shy people, don't open it).

At first, I was just going for a quick stroll, but the staff and the owner were so welcoming that I bought another gram of frozen nicotine 😢.

#7 BiaBa

A small, unassuming shop tucked away in an alley in Nimman Haemin. I happened to pass by on my way home from dinner one day and decided to stop in for a look.
The staff was friendly and professional, but what caught my eye was the bags of sugar leaf nearby. I'd been browsing so many stores, and it was a first for me. However, since they were only a few days old and there was still a lot of grass left, I didn't buy anything.

#8 MAVOIX - Hometown of the Soul
Just like the MAVOIX logo suggests, your mind will be ruthlessly turned upside down, and a new order will be found.

Conclusion
There are also a few other jewelries, like Cannabee and The Spot, whose produce looks pretty good too. It's a shame that happy times always pass so quickly.
Compared to the cannabis shops in Bangkok, the ones in Chiang Mai have a more personal and chill vibe. It felt like, "Oh, you're looking for cannabis? I've got it here! You can smoke it if you want." This perfectly complements the relaxed vibe that permeates Chiang Mai.
Finally, I wish everyone good luck finding their favorite strain, and...
Use cannabis responsibly, and have a safe trip
